The Best Time of the Year... The Denver Gem and Mineral Show

The Sparkle of Denver: Gem & Mineral Shows You Don’t Want to Miss

Denver has always had a way of dazzling us — with mountain views, golden sunsets, and of course, its famous gem and mineral shows. Every year, our city becomes a treasure chest of glittering stones, fossils, beads, and beautiful creations that remind us why Mother Nature is the best designer out there.

One of my personal favorites is the InterGem show, held at The Brighton, In the Rhino District. This is where I buy most of my gems for the year!  It’s open to the public on Saturday and Sunday, which makes it perfect for a weekend outing. InterGem is a place where jewelry makers like me can stock up on unique stones and beads, but it’s just as fun for anyone who loves a little sparkle in their life. Whether you’re hunting for the perfect piece of jewelry, or just curious about the world of gems, this show always delivers.

Another Denver highlight is the National Western Complex and the Coliseum shows. These are massive, family-friendly events — the kind of places where kids can touch fossils, see giant crystals, and learn that geology is way cooler than it sounds in textbooks. I always say it’s the best one to take the little ones to, because they can gawk at dinosaur bones one minute and dig through buckets of tumbled stones the next. There’s something magical about seeing a child hold a geode and realize they’re literally holding millions of years in their hands.

From the serious collectors to the weekend wanderers, Denver’s gem and mineral shows really do have something for everyone. So if you’ve never been, this is your sign: grab a friend, pack your curiosity, and go see what treasures are waiting. You never know — the perfect stone, fossil, or necklace might just be calling your name.
